Discover how motherhood inspired my journey into newborn photography and why capturing the beauty of babies, mothers, and families became my life’s work.
My journey into newborn photography began long before I ever picked up a digital camera. It started in a high school photography class, developing film in a darkroom, wandering the halls and school property capturing everyday moments. From the very beginning, photography sparked something deep within me. During that year, I went on a photography trip to New York, and it became clear—I had found my passion. I knew this was what I was meant to do, even if the path there took longer than I expected.
Like many people, I was drawn toward the idea of long-term financial security and chose a career that, while stable, ultimately left me feeling disconnected and burned out. In 2010, I found my way back to photography and began working as a professional photographer for others. While I gained valuable experience, the work I was doing didn’t truly ignite my creativity or fulfill my soul.
Everything changed when I became a mother.
Between 2017 and 2020, I welcomed my children—and with motherhood came a powerful reconnection to my love for photography. In 2020, I launched my own photography business, driven by a deep need to create work that reflected what I truly loved, valued, and felt inspired by.
That inspiration was undeniable: newborns, babies, and loving families.
I fell completely in love with newborn photography—the tiny details, the softness, the innocence, and the quiet magic of those first days of life. I became deeply drawn to maternity photography, the beauty of pregnancy, and the transformation a woman experiences as she becomes a mother. The connection between a mother and her newborn, the birth of a mother alongside her baby, and the fleeting moments of early parenthood captivated me in a way nothing else ever had.
Becoming a mother brought me back to myself—the truest version of who I am. It reawakened the creative fire that first sparked in that high school darkroom and transformed it into the heart of my business today. I made a promise to myself to follow my heart, to trust my intuition, and to only create work that genuinely inspires my soul.
Now, five years into my journey as a newborn, maternity, and family photographer, I’ve learned how important it is to stay aligned with what truly matters to me. I strive to create timeless newborn portraits that preserve this fleeting season of life—because these moments pass far too quickly.
One day, your heart will ache for these images.
There is nothing more meaningful to me than spending my days photographing beautiful babies and their mothers, capturing the bond they’ve built and reflecting the strength, love, and transformation that comes with new motherhood. These photographs become more than images—they become memories, reminders, and heirlooms.
So here I am—grateful, fulfilled, and excited for the future. Honoured to continue this journey as a newborn and family photographer, capturing the earliest chapters of your story with care, intention, and heart.
